First of all, what is bargaining? Bargaining is an act of negotiating the price of a product, which is mostly used to reduce the cost of the product. (the context of the word 'Bargaining' is used for different purpose here)
Why do we do it?
Most of the time, women or any men do the act of bargaining, why because they felt the product is either too costly or not worth to the product's price.
I am not a person, who indulge in Bargaining but, let me share an incident that had happened to me.
It was the previous week, I went to Sowcarpet for my Christmas shopping with my brother. I bought two satin long gowns, in which one dress cost ₹2000, but my brother bought the dress, which is reduced to ₹1900 by bargaining. The dress was worth upto the price.
We went to the another shop, where the satin long gown was ₹3500. Actually the owner was misleading us by saying the cost of the gown is ₹5000. He was confusing us and so, my brother bargained to ₹3000 and we bought it, though that long gown was not worth upto the cost.
While coming back, There was a fruit shop opposite to Rajiv Gandhi hospital, where I had bought pomegranates. 1kg of pomegranate is ₹300. We were shocked, so my brother bargained to ₹250 and that grandma agreed to it. I was thinking why should we need to reduce the cost of the pomegranate by the act of bargaining?
You know what I did? I gave ₹400 and she gave ₹100 change and was searching for ₹50 to give it back to me. I just went near the bike to go, and she was asking me to get the ₹50 change. I told her that we are buying it for ₹300.
You know what she did? She was overwhelmed by the act and she was so emotional. She joined both her hands together and told me "thank you". I nodded and I bowed down my head in a way of wishing her and left.
From what I can understand from bargaining is that, it can be good but not all the time.
Most of the common people, do bargain in the small shops or to a vender who sells on the street. But, why can't the same people do bargain in big shops like saravana stores, or any big clothing stores across India?
Because if we do that, they will throw you out of the shop. People won't bargain because, money speaks there in big stores or any Textiles and the main reason is the fixed price of the product and shop won't change it.
This same question was asked in Neeya Naana, A debate show of Star Vijay network.
In conclusion, what I want to tell you is that, Bargain when there is a need, but don't do it all the time because in a way, you are making the seller to be in loss or specifically, you are pushing the seller to poverty level even if the price of the material was worth upto the cost.
(This is my opinion of sharing it here. You can either understand my thoughts, if you are agreeing to my points or ignore if you don't agree)
